CURRENLTY LISTENING:  RUSH BY SUMEET

IN TUNE: ASIAN AMERICANS IN MUSIC! FINALLY HITS THE STAGE.

We here at sould out entertainment are SO EXCITED to present to you what we've been passionate for about for a very long time.  Thank you so much for the support you've shown.   None of this would be possible without the artists who we can only show love for through our cheers and encouragement tomorrow.  We have MTV WORLD NEWS covering this event so we are definitely making steps.  We have HOT 97's MISS INFO giving voice to asian americans for all americans.  We are not trying to prove anything but merely demanding that EVERY VOICE DESERVES TO BE HEARD.  Be prepared for an exciting night of music.  This is history in the making.

Please welcome the beautiful sumeet to our community.  she is of the hip hop, dance hall vein.  you'll hear her tracks in the hottest clubs in no time.  Sumeet has collaborated with elephant man and recently released her debut album.  Here are a few words from sumeet:

One more day!

Hello all, I'm Sumeet, hailing from Toronto, Canada originally, now making the Big Apple my home. I've been working the music scene for as long as I can remember and am really looking forward to meeting other Asian musicians with the same dreams as mine.

I'm excited for tomorrow's show - there are so many great artists on the bill!
Asians are too underrepresented in the music industry, it's sad when there's so much talent out there. Showcases like this are pushing along the movement to let voices be heard. We've all got struggle stories, I think all artists do, but I think Asians have to work extra hard to be accepted, or even heard sometimes. Let's pray this is the start of an awakening for all those that don't know.

Much love to Soul'd Out for putting me on, I'm honored and proud to be included alongside such a great line-up.

For those who haven't bought tickets yet, don't sleep on it, it's going to be a hot show!

Bless,
Sumeet

CURRENTLY PLAYING: WHITE GIRL BY MAGGIE KIM

IN TUNE is only 4 days away and we are really excited about all the buzz surrounding the show! sould out entertainment still has 12 dollar tickets available for purchase. please email us at contact@souldout.net

Now, we have a few words from MAGGIE KIM below. word on the streets is this lady and her band put on a killer show with an insurmountable amount of energy. Having been to many concerts in the past, I can say that pulling that off takes a shitload of talent and experience. Maggie has collaborated with the soon to be legendary John Legend and is definitely one of the premiere names in the Asian american indie music community. We are proud to say there is a lot of strong, independent and beautiful female representation at this months show! DON'T MISS MAGGIE LIVE!

A few words from Maggie:

My turn to blog! Exciting. I'm really looking forward to this showcase not only b/c it's fun for me to perform but b/c it's even more fun to see, hear and meet other Asian artists—and fans. I really feel we're reaching that famed tipping point when it comes to the Asian Invasion of music and it's a cool feeling to be a part of it. I get inspired by the music, by the artists, by the fans and it's always the best reminder of why I do what I do.

Anyone can tell you that being a musician is hard work and sometimes disheartening and a lot of times, frustrating. Add Asian to that equation and it's infinitely harder. But it's also so much more rewarding when I get an email from a new young fan asking me to be her "Un-nee" or I see some Asian faces in my audience and I just know that they get what I'm singing about. (Especially "White Girl", which I'm going to ask all of you to sing with me on Thursday!)

I'm happy and proud to be part of this showcase. Thanks to Souldout and The Ides for asking me to participate. And thank you in advance to everyone who's coming. I can't wait!

XO,
M
